Reborn in 1985: Taking Back My Life
Chapter 298: Julian Kingsley Pushed the Door Open
Julian Kingsley pushed the door open, his expression now composed. His slender fingers tapped lightly on the desk. "The Blackwell family called. Frederick Blackwell and Katherine Blackwell will be here in an hour."
Elena Ward set down her chopsticks, and Adrian Stone handed her a handkerchief at just the right moment. She accepted it, dabbing her lips with the grace of a noblewoman.
"How prompt," she murmured with a faint smile.
Julian Kingsley scoffed. "Their precious heir is in trouble—of course they'd rush over. Frederick Blackwell is cunning, and Katherine Blackwell is even sharper. If she weren't a woman, Kyle Blackwell wouldn’t stand a chance in that family." He paused. "Half of the Blackwell family’s decisions come from that girl’s scheming."
Then it struck him—when had he become Elena’s informant?
This woman was terrifying. She had played him from the very beginning. With Adrian present, even if he didn’t help her, he wouldn’t dare cross Adrian. What a ruthless move.
Julian gritted his teeth. Adrian’s wife was nothing short of a demon—brilliant in medicine, shrewd in strategy, all wrapped in an innocent face. Everyone at the hospital praised her kindness, but the Elena before him, calculating and composed, was nothing like the rumors.
For a moment, he wondered—was she an angel or a devil?
"Before The Blackwells arrive," Elena spoke softly, "let Kyle Blackwell take a nap. I don’t want him remembering anything."
Julian raised a brow. "Straight to the point, aren’t you?" He turned to his assistant. "Put him to sleep—but not for too long."
The assistant hurried off.
"Dr. Ward," Julian narrowed his eyes, "do you have some vendetta against The Blackwells?"
"A blood feud," Elena replied, her gaze icy. "I want their downfall."
Julian’s eye twitched. Was she insane?
"Don’t think this doesn’t concern you," Elena suddenly smiled. "The Blackwell family’s Northstar Mine has already tunneled beneath your Eastbank Mine. Those two cave-ins—"
Julian shot to his feet. "How do you know that?"
"I told her," Adrian said calmly.
"You—!" Julian trembled with anger. "You didn’t think to mention something this important sooner?"
Adrian pulled Elena closer, unapologetic. "My wife wanted to know, so I told her."
"You’re done for!" Julian jabbed a finger at him. "Henpecked!"
"Gladly." Adrian kissed the top of Elena’s head. "Next time, don’t tell him."
Elena nodded sweetly, grinning like a cat that got the cream.
Julian massaged his temples. These two were a match made in hell.
