She Left the CEO and Reclaimed Her Empire

Chapter 97

Camille hesitated as she studied her reflection in the mirror. The crimson bikini was daring, but she didn't dislike it. With a deep breath, she fastened the ties.

She still wore the plush white robe when she stepped out. Damien's intense gaze made her suddenly aware of how little fabric covered her body.

After a brief pause, Camille lifted her chin and walked forward with deliberate confidence. She placed her towel and phone on the stone ledge before letting the robe slip from her shoulders.

Damien's sharp inhale was audible.

She knew he'd recognize Helena's handiwork. He might assume this was some sort of invitation, but Camille had no such intentions.

Let him think what he wanted. She refused to let his potential misinterpretation stop her from wearing something she actually liked.

This resolve steadied her hands as she discarded the robe. She deliberately avoided checking for his reaction.

The warm mineral water enveloped her as she settled at a careful distance from him.

Damien turned his head away. Silence stretched between them.

From her periphery, she could see the defined ridges of his abdomen. Camille quickly averted her eyes.

Just when she thought they'd spend the entire soak in silence, Damien pushed a floating tray toward her. "Hungry?"

The resort staff had prepared an assortment of fruits and pastries. "Thanks," she murmured.

He didn't respond.

She plucked a grape but found she had no appetite. After one bite, she nudged the tray back toward him.

The crystal-clear water revealed everything beneath the surface. As the tray drifted back, she couldn't miss his complete lack of physical response.

To an outsider, it might suggest disinterest. But Camille knew better - his indifference stemmed from genuine lack of attraction.

She could parade in the most scandalous lingerie and it wouldn't affect him. This outcome was exactly as she'd predicted.

With divorce looming, she had no intention of intimacy. That's why she'd worn the bikini without concern - it held no power over him.

Camille discreetly looked away.

The hot springs worked their magic, the heat seeping into her muscles. Drowsiness crept in, though she fought sleep.

Eventually, the fatigue won. "I'm going in," she announced, rising.

"Alright," came his clipped response.

She wrapped herself in the robe just as Damien exited the water. Their paths nearly crossed at the elevator where Helena waited.

"Finished already?" Helena's eyes darted between them.

"Yes," Camille confirmed.

Helena opened her mouth, then noticed Damien approaching. The space between them told the whole story - another failed matchmaking attempt.

"A friend just arrived in town for medical treatment," Helena said with a sigh. "I must go, but you two should enjoy the rest of your stay."

She squeezed Camille's hand before turning to Damien. "Be nice to her. Understood?"

"Understood," he replied flatly.
