She Left the CEO and Reclaimed Her Empire

Chapter 304

Cora was deep in thought when Damien arrived. After greeting the Lancaster and Valen families, Selene introduced her cousin. "This is my Aunt Rosalie's daughter, Cora Finch."

Damien glanced at Cora, offering a polite smile. "Pleasure to meet you."

Cora had only seen Damien in Selene's social media posts before.

Seeing him in person now, she finally understood Selene's choice.

Selene's past suitors had been extraordinary—accomplished, renowned, and impressive. But compared to Damien? None of them came close in achievements, education, family background, or even looks and demeanor.

She'd thought those men were the pinnacle, but now realized there was always someone better.

And she couldn't deny—Damien and Selene made a striking couple.

Yet remembering everything between Damien and Camille, Cora lowered her gaze. "Hello," she murmured quietly.

After the greetings, Damien took a seat on the sofa.

News of Selene dating a Lucerne elite—and how his influence helped the Lancasters enter high society—had spread through their circles in Cedarbrook since last year.

Coincidentally, some old acquaintances of the Lancasters from Cedarbrook visited Rosalie today.

When they first heard about the Lancasters' sudden social climb, they'd been skeptical.

Though Selene was exceptional, with many elite suitors over the years, the Lancasters were only mid-tier wealthy in Cedarbrook.

For Selene to marry into Lucerne's upper echelon seemed impossible, let alone reaching its pinnacle.

But seeing their lavish new residence—and meeting Damien himself—they finally believed it. Staring at Damien in awe, Selene said calmly, "They're old family friends."

Damien nodded, shaking hands with each guest courteously. Once he arrived, everyone moved to the dining room.

Cora was finishing her master's degree. Rosalie brought her to Lucerne hoping she'd find work here—with Selene's help in securing a good match.

Damien had always treated the Lancaster and Valen families well. After dinner, noticing his good mood, Rosalie seized the opportunity.

Cora didn't actually want to work here or burden anyone. "Really, there's no need—" she began.

Before she could finish, Damien smiled at her. "It's no trouble." He paused. "Cora, right? What kind of position are you looking for?"

Cora hadn't expected such consideration from Damien. Was it because he loved Selene enough to care about her relatives too?

During dinner, she'd heard Giselle mention how Damien had transferred substantial shares to Selene after growing jealous of her admirers.

That alone showed his devotion. But she hadn't expected him to extend that courtesy to her—a distant cousin he'd just met.

She'd also heard Damien and Camille weren't officially divorced yet. Hearing Giselle casually call him "brother-in-law" had felt odd. Yet here he was, treating her with such respect.

Flustered—always shy and overshadowed by Selene—she stammered, struggling for words.

Selene gently touched Damien's arm. "Don't intimidate her."

Damien chuckled. "Alright." To Cora, he said, "Just let me know when you decide. Consider it done."

Cora nodded quickly. "Okay."
