After I Walked Away, My Billionaire Ex Begged Me Back
Chapter 272: The Price of Facing Catherine
The thought of facing Catherine Holloway's sneering expression at the hospital made Paige Lawson slam her lipstick down in irritation.
Grant Holloway's warning still echoed in her ears. She had no choice but to go.
Entering the kitchen, Paige spotted the simmering chicken soup on the stove.
"Miss Lawson, the soup isn't ready yet—" Mrs. Palmer said cautiously.
"Shut up," Paige cut her off coldly. "Just pack a bowl."
She secretly hoped the old woman would get diarrhea from drinking it.
At the hospital room, Paige pushed the door open without knocking.
"Auntie, I brought you some soup."
Catherine's face darkened the moment she saw her. "Get out!"
Paige forced a smile. "I came to apologize. I spent all morning making this—would you like to try it?"
"Stop pretending!" Catherine hurled a pillow at her. "Who knows what you put in there!"
The soup bowl toppled over, and Paige was shoved out of the room.
She stared at the oil stains on her dress—a designer piece she'd just bought last week.
Pulling out her phone, she texted Grant: "I visited your mother."
As expected, no reply came.
Just as she reached the parking lot, a sharp voice rang out behind her. "Paige Lawson!"
The moment she turned, a stinging slap landed across her face.
Victoria Holloway withdrew her hand with a disdainful glare. "That's for forgetting your place. How dare you upset my mother?"
Clutching her cheek, Paige maintained her smile. "Victoria, you've misunderstood—"
"Spare me the act." Victoria smirked. "If you weren't pregnant, one slap would be the least of your problems today."
She strode away, her heels clicking sharply against the pavement.
Paige stood frozen, her nails digging deep into her palms.
One day, she'd make every single one of them pay.
