After I Walked Away, My Billionaire Ex Begged Me Back
Chapter 246: Her Voice Turned Shrill
The nanny hesitated. "Miss Lawson, prenatal massages require special techniques. We can't just—"
"Stop making excuses!" Paige sneered. "You're just being lazy!"
"I'm a certified maternity care specialist. Your safety is my priority—"
"Certified?" Her voice turned shrill. "Are you threatening me with credentials? Get out if you don't want this job!"
The nanny clenched her fists, swallowing her anger.
"Lie down."
Paige nestled into the couch with satisfaction. "Was that so hard? Must I always lose my temper?"
The nanny's hands trembled slightly.
"Did you skip breakfast? Put some strength into it!"
"Ah! Are you trying to kill me?"
Gritting her teeth, the nanny adjusted her pressure.
"Barely acceptable."
Thirty minutes later, a bowl of bird's nest soup appeared on the table. Glossy strands glistened under osmanthus honey, its aroma rich and inviting.
Paige lifted half a spoonful—then slammed the porcelain down.
"This tastes wrong!"
"That's impossible..." The nanny paled. "I followed the traditional recipe."
"Then the bird's nest must be fake." Paige narrowed her eyes. "Did you switch my premium stock?"
"I've served the Holloway family for twenty years!" The nanny shook with indignation. "Call the police if you doubt me!"
At the mention of police, Paige's gaze flickered.
A noise came from the foyer.
Grant Holloway stumbled in, loosening his tie. Alcohol clung to him like a second skin.
"Grant!" Paige's demeanor flipped instantly. She approached with a sugary smile. "Let me help—"
"Get lost." He shoved her away. "Don't touch me."
His disgusted glare treated her like something scraped off a shoe.
Her nails dug into her palms.
Once Grant disappeared upstairs, she whirled around. "What are you gawking at? All of you—out!"
Midnight silence.
Carrying a hangover remedy, Paige noticed the master bedroom door ajar.
Running water echoed from the shower.
She set the tray down and crept closer.
Through frosted glass, a shadow loomed larger.
Under the spray, Grant's eyes snapped open—glinting like unsheathed blades.
